Funding FAQs

1

Can individuals be involved in more than one proposal to the Flexible Fund?

Yes, provided that you have the time and resources to commit to each project that you have applied for.

2

Can multiple applications from the same research organisation be submitted to the Flexible Fund?

Yes – there are no restrictions on the number of applications that can be submitted by each eligible institution.

3

How many times can an a researcher apply for funding?

There is no restriction on the number of applications that can be submitted and you are welcome to apply to more than one call. However, resubmissions of the same or similar applications are not advised unless substantial changes have been made to the proposal.

4

Can a team of people apply for funding?

The Flexible Fund is intended to support collaborative projects, so applications from teams (preferably comprising researchers at different institutions) is encouraged. However, one person must be named as the lead applicant and confirm responsibility for reporting on the project after its completion.

5

Are industry partners eligible for involvement in projects under the Flexible Fund?

We welcome involvement from industry partners, who might offer in-kind or financial support to the project in addition to the NetworkPlus’s contribution. This should be detailed in a letter of support, which should be included with the funding application.

If you work in industry and are interested in supporting a project, we can help to connect you with an appropriate academic  collaborator in your area of interest. Please contact us for more information.

6

Are there any restrictions around receiving other funding for the same project?

If you are able to attract additional funding to deliver additional activities and outcomes, that would be seen as beneficial to the application. Please note that we cannot ‘double fund’, i.e. we cannot provide funding for a project that already has funding to complete the same work.
